The Indian River Lagoon is home to over 1,000 Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin. Studies have revealed that “our” dolphin spend most of their lives in the lagoon and rarely venture away from their home grounds.
Our tours run exclusively thru the Thousand Islands of the Banana River, one of three large estuaries that make up the Indian River Lagoon Ecosystem. The Thousand Islands are a group of natural & spoil low islands that consist mostly of Red, Black, & White Mangroves. The dolphin we see in the Thousand Islands tend to travel in families of 2 or more and spend their days cruising around the mangrove islands and canals in search of food.

Island Boat Lines was founded by native Floridian and Merritt Island local, Penny Flaherty, on Mother’s Day, 2001. Penny and our dedicated crew have an extensive knowledge of the area and have been providing daily Eco tours of the stunning Cocoa Beach Thousand Islands for 15 years.
Our most popular tour is the two-hour Eco tour "In Search of Wildlife". Passengers have the opportunity to see herds of Manatees, flocks of Birds and playful Dolphins as they journey through the heart of the Cocoa Beach Thousand Islands.
All our tours are guided by a USCG Certified Captain and Professional Naturalist who will help passengers discover wildlife as they journey through the islands "In Search of Wildlife".
